Step 2a - Company Directories
Company directories can be use to identify companies in a particular industry. Some resources will have an SIC code index as part of the set. Remember that many companies have more than one industry code.
The following resources will help you identify companies within industries:

- Mergent onlineTip: Choose to search by "Classification" (SIC or NAICS code) and the resulting list will be a list of the companies within that code.

Provides information on many well known privately-held companies in addition to M&A activity, PE & VC information and funding deals.
