Step 2a - Company Directories
Company directories can be use to identify companies in a particular industry. Some resources will have an SIC code index as part of the set. Remember that many companies have more than one industry code.
The following resources will help you identify companies within industries:

- Mergent onlineTip: Choose to search by "Classification" (SIC or NAICS code) and the resulting list will be a list of the companies within that code.
- PrivCo : private company financial data authority This link opens in a new windowProvides information on many well known privately-held companies. Information includes balance sheet and income statement figures, company overview, competitors, and funding activity when available. Searchable by company name, industry, location and annual revenue. M & A activity is also covered. ****Users must create an account using their Baylor e-mail address.
