Baylor Libraries Collection Development Policy

Keston Center for Religion, Politics, and Society

Baylor University established the Keston Center for Religion, Politics, and Society to receive, maintain, preserve, expand, and make available to scholars and researchers locally and globally the Keston Archives and Library, the world's most comprehensive artificially assembled collection of materials on religious persecution under communist and other totalitarian regimes. 

Formats Collected

Archives and Papers, Periodicals, including Newspapers, and Pamphlets, Keston Publications, Books and Encyclopedias Related to the Mission of Keston, Samizdat (illegally published materials) and Tamizdat (samizdat published abroad), Art, Photographs, Audio and Video Materials, Propaganda Posters, Court Documents, Maps

Collecting Priorities

  • New and Retrospective materials in all languages and formats
  • Relevant documents, monographs, and other archival materials in the formats of the original collection or as might be developed or become available

Collection Strengths

Materials related to religious persecution under Communist and other totalitarian regimes in Europe, Asia, or elsewhere.

What We Do Not Collect

Materials outside the scope of the original collection.
