Armstrong Browning Library & Museum

The Armstrong Browning Library & Museum is dedicated to the study of the lives and works of Victorian poets Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning and houses the world’s largest collection of Browning material and other fine collections of rare 19th-century books, manuscripts, and works of art.

Letters, manuscripts, archives and papers, books, periodicals, musical scores, theses and dissertations, photographs, works of art, audiovisual materials, realia

Collecting Priorities

  • Original letters and manuscripts relating to Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, books from their personal library, presentation volumes, likenesses, and significant personal belongings.
  • Original letters, manuscripts, and books relating to immediate family members of Robert Browning or Elizabeth Barrett Browning and members of the Brownings’ literary circle.
  • 19th-Century Women Poets
  • 19th-Century Theological pamphlets
