Using Leganto Reading Lists in Canvas

Submitting Course Reserve Requests in Leganto

Physical course reserves enable professors to place print books from our collection on reserve for students to check out during the semester. Available loan options are 2-hour, 3-day, and 7-day loan periods. In cases where a book needs to remain widely available for student access, the 2-hour loan period will be the best option, giving other students an opportunity to request it throughout the day. To submit a physical course reserve request in Leganto, you will first need to locate the print book in our catalogue and add it to your reading list:

1. Click the + Add button from your reading list, then choose the Search the Library option. Next, in the search field, enter the title of the book that you would like placed on reserve. To narrow down your results, you can click the Filter option and choose Book and Held by library, then click Apply.

2. After your results have generated, choose the appropriate item record, and be sure to check that the record indicates it is a book and a physical item. Then, click the item record, choose which section it should be placed in, and click Add & Edit.

3. Next, choose the Item Actions tab and in the section titled Tags, click the Add tag option, choose the Physical Reserves tag, and click Save

4. After the book has been added to your reading list, hover your mouse over the item record and click Full Details. Next, choose the Library discussion tab, scroll down to the Type your message entry field, enter the loan option you need (2-hour, 3-day, or 7-day), then click Send.

Once your request has been processed, the course reserves coordinator will update you by email.

To submit an eBook or print book purchase request, please follow the steps below:

1. From your reading list, click the + Add button, then choose the Manual entry option from the drop down menu.

2. In the Type* field, choose either book or eBook from the drop down menu and enter the title of the book. On the next page, fill out any important item details such as the author (Creator), ISBN, publication date, etc.
