Fixer Upper Homes & Demographics using ESRI StoryMaps

Click to View
| After successfully logging in, click Map link at top page header. |  |
| Select a Basemap that you like |  |
| Use the Search Box to zoom to Waco, Texas |  |
| Click Add and select Browse Living Atlas Layers. |  |

Search for popular
Select Popular Demographics in the United States
Click Add to Map |
 |
| Back in Contents, uncheck all Popular Demographics layers except for Block Groups. |  |
| Click the ... to the right of Popular Demographics in the United States (Beta) - Block Group and select Set Visibility Range and drag left slider all the way to the left. |  |
| Under Popular Demographics in the United States (Beta) - Block Group, click the Change Style button. |  |
|
Set the attribute to show as 2018 Median Household Income (ESRI)
Set the drawing style to Counts and Amounts (Color)
Click Done |

| Click the ... to the right of Popular Demographics in the United States (Beta) - Block Group and select Transparency and set the slider to 50%. |  |
| On this guide, right-click Fixer Upper Locations and 'Copy Link Address' or 'Copy Link Location' |  |
| Back on map, click Add and select Add Layer from Web |  |
|
Change the dropdown menu to A CSV File
Paste the URL into the URL bar
Click Add Layer ----------------------------- On the next window, click Add Layer again |

Click the ... to the right of Id and select Rename
Rename as Fixer Upper Locations ---------------------------- Then click the ... again and select Copy ---------------------------- Rename the copy as Fixer Upper Hot Spots |

Click the Change Style button under Fixer Upper Hot Spots ----------------------------- Select Heat Map
Click Done |
 |

Click the ... to the right of Fixer Upper Hot Spots and select Transparency.
Set the slider all the way to the left. |

| At the top toolbar, click Save and select Save. |  |
| Specify Title, Tabs, and click Save Map. |  |
|
Click Share on the top toolbar
Check Everyone (public)
Click Create a Web App |
 |
|
Click Build a Story Map
Select Story Map Journal
Click Create Web App |
 |
| Leave defaults and click Done |  |
|
Select Side Panel or Floating Panel
Click Start |
 |
| Leave title and click arrow |  |
|
Select Web Page
Paste (or type) the following URL: https://researchguides.baylor.edu/JOU4340
Click Configure |

| Keep defaults and click Next |  |
| Click Add Section at the bottom of the left column |  |
|
Content: Map
Map Dropdown: Fixer Upper Locations & Income |
 |
| To the right of Content click Custom Configuration |  |
|
Uncheck all but Fixer Upper Hot Spots and Fixer Upper Locations
Click Save Map Content |
 |
| Enter a title if you have not yet done so and click Next |  |
|
In the text entry area, type Points and Hot Spots
Click Add |
 |
| Follow the basic steps as above for additional sections |
| Click Save on the top right of screen |  |
| Click Share on the top left |  |
| Done! |
