Welcome to the Book Arts & Letterpress Lab

header image of printing presses and moveable type The Book Arts & Letterpress Lab offers a wide array of hands-on engaged learning opportunities, featuring a variety of resources and tools to explore and learn about many aspects of the art and history of the book. Lab visitors can experience composing and hand setting text with metal and wood type, operate historic printing presses, and explore a variety of book arts activities. The lab spaces include the Press Room and the Type & Book Arts Studio.

The Book Arts & Letterpress Lab team offers demonstrations and hands-on training to introduce visitors to the practice of printing by hand. We welcome all members of the Baylor community and the local community to learn about and experience the world of book arts and letterpress printing with us!

The Book Arts & Letterpress Lab is available for curricular engagement with courses of all disciplines, as well as being open to individuals during open hours or by appointment for personal projects or class assignments. We also schedule a variety of workshops in letterpress, book arts, simple book structures, calligraphy, and much more.
