Studio A - Experiential Learning Commons - Moody Library (Garden Level)

Studio A is a multi-use audiovisual recording and screening studio. Talent may choose from the following DIY recording setups via touch panel:

  • "Camera Only" preset to record course/module intros, faculty bios, Interviews, small panel discussions, or demonstrations.
  • "Picture-in-Picture" preset to record camera and desktop.
  • Chroma green & blue recording with "Full Screen" or "Presentation Window" presets provide opportunity for added creativity.
    • Display presentations, photos, videos, and more from a desktop - live!
    • Choice of green or blue accommodates more wardrobe colors.
  • "Presentation Only" preset for screen recording with annotation.

Other room details include:

  • Lightboard (Separate system, opposite main stage) also offers push-button recording to removable media.
  • Studio sized for individuals or groups.
  • Furniture to accommodate a range of settings.
  • DMX studio lighting presets.
  • Single camera.
  • Black backdrop.
  • Screening area.
  • Configurable for additional cameras and custom sets (by appointment).

Audience

Studio A is available to faculty, staff, and students for personal and academic work. Students may request assistance from our student "Creative Media" team. Faculty and staff recording academic content may receive assistance from our professional staff.

All talent should expect to meet a team member to begin and finish each recording session. Staff will orient to the studio, assist with set up, mics and lighting, and basic studio operation.

Instructions

Bring removable storage media. Any USB Type-B device will work, but note that longer recordings require BOTH storage space over 1GB AND disk formatting of exFAT or other formatting capable of large files.

Studio A Instructions (general):

  1. Insert USB storage media in AV rack.
  2. Use the touch panel on the AV rack to select your recording preset.
  3. Use the DMX lighting panel to choose lighting preset ("1" for center stage, "2" for stage right presentation).
  4. Put on AV rack wireless microphone and perform mic check using metering on Preview TV under camera and Behringer sound board.
  5. Compose camera shot using height adjustable table and pan/tilt on camera, and lens zoom.
  6. Start and stop recording using touch panel on AV Rack (or on podium if connected).

Lightboard Instructions (general):

  1. Insert USB storage media in desk control panel.
  2. Pull down lightboard camera using orange pull strap and compose shot, adjusting lens zoom to stay within the entire lightboard frame.
  3. Turn on mic receiver connected to lightboard camera.
  4. Put on wireless microphone at lightboard desk, and perform mic check either by a sample recording or metering on transmitter pack.
  5. Turn off ALL other room lights (DMX panel blackout button and work light switch by door).
  6. Start, pause, and stop recording using desk control panel.
  7. Clean between takes with dry paper towel.
