ELC Studios

The Audio Booths are available to faculty, staff, and students for personal and academic work. Students may request assistance from our student "Creative Media" team. Faculty and staff recording academic content may receive assistance from our professional staff.

All talent should expect to meet a team member to begin and finish each recording session. Staff will orient to the studio, assist with set up, mics, peripherals, and basic studio operation.

We recommend that you bring a USB-A external storage device with you to transfer any recording files or have a cloud service solution (like Baylor Box) set up prior to coming to the Audio Booth if you are not using your own laptop with the audio interface.

Start Up:

1. Check in with Creative Media staff at your reservation start to gain access to Audio Booths.
2. Log into the Mac workstation using your BearID.
3. Launch the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) of your choice. (Audacity, Garageband, Logic Pro, and Audition are currently installed)
4. Ensure that the audio input and output is set to Scarlett 8i6 in the DAW.
5. Adjust the microphone gain on the Scarlett 8i6 to the appropriate level for recording.
6. Begin recording!

Shut Down:

1. Save all your files to an external storage device or upload local files to your cloud service of choice.
2. Close all open programs.
3. Select the option to log out of the Mac.
4. Turn all gain nobs and monitor/headphones volume to 0.
5. Return microphones and headphones to their original positions when you entered the booth.
6. Lock the door upon exit.
7. Check out with Creative Media staff prior to leaving the ELC.

M-Audio Oxygen 49

With an array of assignable knobs, pads, and faders, Oxygen 49 gives you total control over your software, allowing you to stay engaged in the creative flow of recording and mixing music without ever reaching for the mouse. Novation Launchpad X

The Novation Launchpad X is a control surface for use with Ableton Live. It provides 64 RGB pads. These are velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads that allow you to trigger clips and samples and let you see your Ableton session represented in front of you on the MIDI controller. The device also provides 16 buttons and 81 RGB LEDs. Request the Launchpad X with your Audio Booth reservation and gain increased creative control with your music production work!
