Assessing for Risk of Bias

Assessing an article for bias is often called critical appraisal. Bias can be introduced at any point in a research study—there's even something called publication bias! 

Assessing for risk of bias will vary depending on the type of study you are analyzing. For example, if you're analyzing a Randomized Control Trial, you'll assess whether the patients were properly randomized, but if you are looking at a cohort study, you won't assess for patient randomization.
