Remote Recording

Academic Video Production occasionally requires talent to record on their own. This guide is a resource to help make those remote recording sessions a success.

Remote Recording Solo

Solo recordings may need little more than a webcam, mic, following some basic camera, audio, and lighting rules (see "6 Tips for Mobile Recording"), and software you already have.

Option 1: Kaltura Capture

Kattura is Baylor's endorsed media content hosting platform. Record anywhere, simultaneous camera and screen capture, caption, edit, share, and publish directly into your Canvas course.

Option 2: PowerPoint Slides with Video Embedded

Result is a *.PPTX file

Place a "Cameo" window on your slide, and format as you would any content box in Powerpoint. Record video content on each slide. Powerpoint file delivered to students hosts the videos.

Option 3: Video with PowerPoint Slides Embedded

Result is a *.MP4 file

PowerPoint can also turn your slideshow with embedded video into an MP4 file. Single slides can have the look of a produced video. Presentations with multiple slides and timings will be output in a single viewable presentation.
