As the nation's largest private, not-for-profit source of funds for scientists studying cancer, the American Cancer Society remains committed to funding basic, translational, clinical, and cancer control research now and in the future. A variety of grant programs for Cancer research.

The ACSM Foundation supports scientific research through the distribution of grants and travel awards. Each year the Foundation awards approximately $100,000 in research grants and scholarships.

Research grants to support studies that will increase understanding of suicide or test treatments and other interventions that save lives.

Supports the development of beginning investigators and offers innovative funding mechanisms to stimulate research in promising areas of cardiovascular science.

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund serves and strengthens society by nurturing a diverse group of leaders in biomedical sciences to improve human health through education and powering discovery in frontiers of greatest need.

The Fund’s current programs are: Health Care Coverage, Access, and Tracking; Health Care Delivery System Reform; Advancing Health Equity; Controlling Health Care Costs; International Health Policy and Practice Innovations; Advancing Medicare; Medicaid; and Federal and State Health Policy. The Fund has recently launched new initiatives focused on Behavioral Health, Public Health Modernization, and Climate Change and Health Care.

Within these programs, preference is given to proposals that seek to: clarify the scope of serious and neglected problems; develop, test, and evaluate the impact of practical, innovative models for addressing such problems; disseminate tools and models of care that have been proven to be effective; or analyze the impact of specific policies or trends.

Dedicated to improving the health of the public by advancing the education and training of health professionals. Projects must align with one of the three priority areas: Promoting Diversity, Equity and Belonging; Increasing Collaboration Among Future Health Professionals; Preparing Future Health Professionals to Navigate Ethical Dilemmas.

This two-year Fellowship program exclusively designed for AAN Fellows to maintain their current position, while serving on a designated board at NAM will further facilitate the dissemination of nursing knowledge and expertise in key discussions that will impact health policy at the national level. NAM boards include; Child, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; and Population Health and Public Health Practice.

The AAN NAM Fellow will be immersed in a unique learning environment offered at NAM, paired with an elected NAM member for mentorship, and will be awarded a flexible research grant of $25,000 for the two-year period, which will be paid to their home institution to help advance the individual’s professional development. AAN NAM Fellows will be actively involved in producing reports and relevant study products while engaging with legislators, government officials, industry leaders, executives, scientists, and other health profession experts.

As the first national organization to fund nursing education research, the NLN is the leader in advancing the science of nursing education — furthering the scholarship of teaching and promoting evidence-based nursing education. A long record of support for rigorous, high-quality study that contributes to academic progression is reflected in the NLN's nursing education research and grants program.

The ONS research agenda focuses on gaps in the knowledge base for oncology nursing practice. ONS develops and disseminates educational resources to support a variety of oncology nursing roles. ONS independent nursing education programs address best practices and treatment advances for oncology nurses, oncology advanced practice nurses and the entire multi-disciplinary cancer care team.

Supports research that provides information about the best available evidence to help patients and their health care providers make more informed decisions.

Grant programs support independent research, quality improvement and education initiatives that find innovative ways to improve patient outcomes in underserved communities around the world.

STTI and collaborating nursing organizations offer research grant opportunities to nurses around the globe.
