Welcome to your Museum Studies subject guide. This guide contains modules on basic information literacy skills, recommendations for finding books, articles, and using library databases. It also contains information on how to find dissertations, use a citation tool, and a newsfeed for current museum topics in the news. Consider this your portal to researching and working in this interdisciplinary field.
In addition to the resources and services provided by the University Libraries, the Museum Studies Department houses an excellent collection in the Academics and Administration section of the Mayborn Museum Complex. This guide serves as basic introduction to research in the field of museum studies, and recommends additional resources held in the main libraries and available to you online.
This library guide is part of our “library basics” literacy tier. In this tier you will be introduced to the basics of academic libraries. The lamppost represents the first stage in the development of your research skills and includes things like using information ethically, participating in the scholarly conversation, learning the basics of searching, and learning how to get more help when you need it.
