Using a Reading List in Canvas: Introduction

Leganto Reading List from Ex Libris

What is a Course Reading List (Leganto)?

Leganto is an application/plug-in for Canvas that is a reading list management tool.  It enables instructors to easily collect citations, create and manage reading lists, automate workflow with the Library, and create a holistic user experience for students.

  • Allows you to add citations from the web, library search, manually, or import from existing citation tools.
  • Makes it easy for Instructors and/or librarians to collaboratively collect citations. Instructors can send citation requests to the Library, where librarians can reserve, acquire, license, and/or digitize the citations.
  • After a list is published, students can easily view and access the citations related to their courses.

Benefits to using Leganto Reading Lists

The Baylor Libraries' Course Reading List in Canvas is designed to help instructors incorporate library materials in their Canvas courses.

Benefits:

  • Instructors search the library catalog and link directly to resources; no need to deal with off-campus access or link maintenance
  • Course materials can be saved and reused in other courses or future semesters
  • Course materials lists are added to Canvas course navigation so that students have easy access
  • Embedded analytics can provide data on students' use of the materials.
