PRCH 7316.01/PRCH 7310.02 Guide to Biographical Sources on Famous Preachers: Reference Works

Odd sort of book. Provides a concise history of preaching chronologically and then by rhetorical development for the first half of the work. It then offers a brief (40) page "Capsule biographies of preachers" section, which is neither sufficiently detailed nor referenced to enable one to take their queries much further. Its a place to go if you know nothing at all about your figure. Not terribly helpful otherwise as a reference work.

Select sample sermons of highly prominent preachers / theologians of the past. Primary chronological focus appears to be on the modern period, especially the 19th to mid-20th centuries. What makes these volumes especially useful are the reasonably extensive biographies (minimum 10 pages) prefaced to the sermon texts.
