GBL 1205/1305: Transition to the U.S. University: Library Resources

This guide will show you how to use the Baylor Libraries' resources to find the kind of reliable and scholarly articles you need to use for an argumentative paper.

What is Scholarly Conversation?

In your argument paper you need to present both sides of your topic. The outside sources you will use are like conversations between and among the writers of those sources. Watch the presentation below to better understand the way academic writers use the works of other academics to build an argument.

The presentation has text and two short videos.  Click on the picture to open up the presentation, then use the scroll bar to read the text. When you see a video, click on the play button to play it. This is the first of four presentations on the concepts that are a part of the scholarly conversation. For this class, we are only looking at this first one on "The Scholarly Conversation."

If the volume is low and using the sound control on your computer doesn't help, there is a separate sound control icon in the video itself that you can use to increase the volume.
