This video walks you through the process of preparing the Transcript (unmodified) into the Transcript Prepared for NVivo.
Coding using NVivo
Steps:
Import transcript into NVivo
Distinguish between Brianna's transcribed text and Ray's transcribed text.
Structure transcript using the Auto Code/Use the style or structure tool
Create a new node named respondents to hold the transcriptions.
Code content for the term fatherhood
Manual Coding: Create a new node named fatherhood. Code examples of Ray's transcribed text for the node fatherhood and child nodes positive fathering and negative fathering.
Word frequencies: Create a new node named daddy as a third child node within fatherhood. This node will contain all instances of the word daddy, including synonyms, by Ray.
Text Search: Create a new node named family support as a child node within the Ray node. This node will contain all instances of the words family and support within five (5) words of each other.
Auto Thematic Coding: Create a new collection of nodes within a new child node named auto themes within the Ray node. This collection of nodes and child nodes will contain top level keywords determined by the NVivo topic modeler.
