Librarians and other researchers know that researching local and community issues may be challenging. Just because you know of a local issue, does not mean that there is scholarly research readily available on it. You will likely have to use local media outlets (Waco Tribune, or local television), or interviews, etc. for specifics on recent and very local topics.
There may be scholarly information available for background and overall issues concerning your topic. As always leave yourself plenty of time for research and be sure to seek the assistance of a librarian if you need more help!
Provides access to the Waco Tribune-Herald without a personal subscription, as well as to the archives back to 1999. This database also includes access to the Dallas Morning News, Austin American-Statesman, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Houston Chronicle, and San Antonio Express-News.
Provides indexing and abstracts for the fields of communication studies, journalism and mass communication. It includes over 700 journals, over 450 of those in full text. While it is primarily comprised of the core communication studies journals, it does also include non-core journals which help to extend the resource to include the growing interdisciplinary nature of the field.
