Overview

Comprises the papers of several Baptist missionaries who served either exclusively or mostly in the field of Church Music.  Their work took a variety of forms, including composing, arranging, translating, editing, conducting, and teaching.  

Roger Cole Papers

As a music missionary in Brazil, Roger Cole served as Coordinator of the Music Department in the Baptist Convention of the State of São Paulo.  He organized choirs and training programs, published congregational music, led a vocal ensemble, and made recordings.

Bill Ichter Papers

As a Baptist musical missionary in Brazil from the 1950s until 1990, Ichter was influential as an editor and a publisher of church music.

Joan Sutton Papers

Joan Sutton, a longtime music missionary to Brazil, had a major impact on church music there through her work as a translator, composer, and teacher.  Many of the items in this collection are available in the Baylor University Libraries Digital Collections, but access is limited to the Baylor network due to copyright restrictions.
