University Libraries Resources for New Faculty: Teaching Resources

The Library provides several academic software packages for use by faculty and students. Available software includes SAS, SPSS, Nvivo, ATLAS.ti, Mathematica, MatLab, Refworks, SciFinder and more. View the list of all software provided by the University.

Use Canvas to manage courses and deliver course content online. To simplify the process for faculty, each semester all courses are set up automatically and populated with student enrollment; faculty only have to "publish" the course to have it accessible for the students.

The Library provides over 600 Mac and Windows computers in public spaces for use by students. Many of these computers are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week in Moody Library. View the list of software installed on these computers.

Place any type of material on reserve for classes. Copied materials (articles, chapters in books, etc., old exams, etc.) are placed on electronic reserve and automatically made available in Canvas under the Baylor Libraries link for that course. Under most circumstances, the Baylor Libraries will file for copyright permissions, if needed.

Create online interactive lessons and exercises easily and upload to a website or use within Canvas.

Within Canvas, the ability to interact in real time with students outside of the classroom environment is accomplished by using either Blackboard Collaborate or Big Blue Button. Web conferencing outside of Canvas is also available with Blackboard Collaborate.
