Academic Software

The Library provides several academic software packages for use by faculty and students. Available software includes SAS, SPSS, Nvivo, ATLAS.ti, Mathematica, MatLab, Refworks, SciFinder and more. View the list of all software provided by the University.


Use Canvas to manage courses and deliver course content online. To simplify the process for faculty, each semester all courses are set up automatically and populated with student enrollment; faculty only have to "publish" the course to have it accessible for the students.

Library Instruction Services

Provide your students with course-related instruction that focuses on their specific research needs. These services include instruction sessions tailored to your course, student appointments with librarians, subject-specific research guides, content for your Canvas course page related to research, and the availability of regularly scheduled library research seminars for your students at the beginning of every semester.

Media Lab at TechPoint

Do you or your students need to record a presentation, interview, talk, podcast, or voice-over narration?  The TechPoint Media Lab, located in the Study Commons, provides bookable video and audio recording facilities and equipment for do-it-yourself digital media creation.

Online Survey Creation

With Qualtrics Online Survey software provided by the Baylor Libraries, you can create surveys (with no additional software other than a browser), share research tools with colleagues at other institutions, and get full technical support.  The "Using Qualtrics" web page provides additional information.

Personal and Academic Websites

Presentation Capture

Use this feature from within Canvas to record screencasts and other presentations from your desktop or classroom. Include presentation slides, annotations, and in-video quizzes. Publish media and monitor analytics easily within Canvas. This webpage provides additional information.

Public Computers

The Library provides over 600 Mac and Windows computers in public spaces for use by students. Many of these computers are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week in Moody Library. View the list of software installed on these computers.

Reserve Services

Place any type of material on reserve for classes. Copied materials (articles, chapters in books, etc., old exams, etc.) are placed on electronic reserve and automatically made available in Canvas under the Baylor Libraries link for that course. Under most circumstances, the Baylor Libraries will file for copyright permissions, if needed.

Create online interactive lessons and exercises easily and upload to a website or use within Canvas.

Web Conferencing Services

Within Canvas, the ability to interact in real time with students outside of the classroom environment is accomplished by using either Blackboard Collaborate or Big Blue Button. Web conferencing outside of Canvas is also available with Blackboard Collaborate.
