Great Texts

A guide for students in the Great Texts of the Western Tradition program

Searching for Authors

Use Advanced OneSearch to find books by an author. You could do a keyword search for the name of the person, but a more focused way to search for their works is to choose "Library Catalog" at the top of the search page, choose  "Author/Creator" from the drop down list, and then put the name of the person in the search box in this format "LastName, FirstName" (ex. "Austen, Jane").

In order to determine a specific author from another with the same name, you can add in the years that the person lived.  To find out how a particular author is referred to authoritatively, you can check a record for one of their works.

Searching for Specific Texts

You can also search for a particular text by doing a title search with Advanced OneSearch.
