Requesting Articles
Finding Full Text
Many databases provide direct access to full text. Look for links to "Full Text," "Text," or "PDF." If you choose to print an article, be sure to use the printer icon within the database or within Acrobat if offered, rather than the browser print feature.
When you see this BU InfoLinks icon, you can click on it to connect directly to full text in other databases or to see if we have a print copy of the journal.
You can also search for the journal title (often labeled "Source") in OneSearch. Journals may be available:
- as a print periodical (check the "Holdings" to determine whether the library owns the correct issue),
- as microfilm or microfiche (check the "Holdings" to determine whether the library owns the correct issue), or

Discipline-Specific Databases
The following databases are helpful for finding information (articles, reports, and other documents) specific to the field of education.

ERIC (EBSCOhost)Includes citations and abstracts of documents and journal articles in all areas of education. Both journal articles (designated as EJ) and educational documents (ED) are indexed. The ERIC database originated in 1966 and is the most comprehensive education database available. Some journals are entirely indexed while others are indexed on a selective basis. The documents include curricular materials such as courses of study and lesson plans, as well as conference papers, books, government reports, theses, and a variety of other materials. Many of the documents are available through an online link, and for some others, Baylor has a copy on microfiche. Identical content is available from a variety of vendors, users may choose the vendor they prefer. EBSCOhost.

Education - Oxford bibliographiesOffers peer-reviewed annotated bibliographies on Educaton. Introductory essay provides a review of current research trends and issues. Bibliographies are browseable by subject area and keyword searchable. Educational administration abstractsProvides indexing and abstracting for articles in journals related to the administration of primary, secondary and post-secondary educational facilities and programs. Subjects covered include: personnel, curriculum, school-community relations, supervision, minority group relations, and professional education. Educational levels include: early childhood education, K-12, community colleges, and higher education.

Provides citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. 99 percent of the covered material is peer-reviewed. The database also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law, and others. Journal coverage, which spans 1887 to present, includes international material selected from nearly 2 000 periodicals in more than 25 languages. Can limit by publisher, publication year, publication status, publication type, document type, book type, peer reviewed, language, population group, age group, intended audience, methodology and classification codes. APA PsycTESTS
Provides access to more than 15000 psychology tests and measures. Includes tests originally developed for research but not commercially available and some commercially available tests with links to the publisher. Records include a summary, development history, purpose, reliability and validity data (if available) and citation of the peer-reviewed source document. Full-text test items are available for many records. Search by keyword, title, author, subject, construct, as well as other fields. Limit by results by administration method, commercial availability, permissions, fees, as well as target population demographics.

Multi-Disciplinary Databases
When you are doing research within the field of education, you may need to consult a multi-disciplinary database. Multi-disciplinary databases contain content from a variety of different fields. That means that your results will include content indexed from education-related resources as well as from other fields. These databases can be useful if your topic crosses over into other fields (i.e. school psychology).

Academic search completeProvides a great starting place for research, as it offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12 500 journals in all academic subjects, including more than 8 500 full-text and 7 300 peer-reviewed journals. Other types of publications included in this resource are books and book chapters, newspapers, magazines, conference proceedings, reports, etc. Searchable by keyword, title, author, subject, journal name, and a lot more. Directory of open access journals : DOAJIndexes the scholarly and scientific literature in open access journals (journals which do not charge the individual or the institution a subscription fee but make their content freely available). Journals indexed must be peer-reviewed or have editorial quality control and report results of research to a scholarly community to be included in the indexing. Access to full text varies by journal. All languages and subjects are covered. Search for articles by keyword (with Boolean "and/or/not" connectors), search journals by title, or browse journals by broad subject categories. Citation Databases
Citation databases compile the citations in the reference lists of scholarly publications. These kinds of databases allow you to ind newer resources that reference a resource or author that you already know. You may want to do this in order to find more articles on a particular topic, see how an idea has grown over time, see where other researchers are citing your work or the work of other authors that you follow, or to see citation numbers or metrics to report on a job or grant application, etc.

ProQuest dissertations & theses globalIncludes citations to dissertations and theses from around the world from 1637. Each dissertation published since July 1980 includes a 350-word abstract written by the author. Master's theses published since 1988 include 150-word abstracts. Simple bibliographic citations are available for dissertations dating from 1637. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full-text coverage for older graduate works.
